Day 3   | Rome & Rome Sightseeing

Breakfast is included this morning.  Today you enjoy a tour of this magical city.  Rome is the cradle of ancient civilization. Your tour will show you the best of Ancient Rome and Vatican City.  The afternoon is free for your own pursuits.. 

 

Day 4   | Rome & Transfers to Civitavecchia & board Jewel of the Seas

Breakfast is included this morning.  Today you are transferred to the pier in Civitavecchia and board the lovely Jewel of the Seas. Rome is served by the port city of Civitavecchia, located approximately 50 miles away.

 

Day 5   | Cruise: Messina, Sicily

11 am - 7 pm. Situated on the western shore of the strait bearing its name, this port is the gateway to Sicily. Messina's principal attractions include the Duomo, its adjoining bell tower and the local museum on the northern outskirts of the city. Train-ferries, car-ferries and hydrofoils make the connection across the Strait of Messina to Reggio Calabria on the Italian mainland, with excursions available to Taormina, Mount Etna and the mainland.

Day 8   | Cruise: Jerusalem, Tel Aviv & Ashdod, Israel

7 am - 11 pm. The port town of Ashdod serves as the gateway to one of the most revered cities in the world. Jerusalem, which is central to three world religions, includes both an old walled city and a modern urban area surrounding the wall. As you stroll inside the wall, you'll eventually "discover" some of the most magnificent holy shrines in the world, including the Mosque of Omar (also known as the Dome of the Rock, the third holiest site in Islam, after Mecca and Medina); the Church of the Holy Sepulchre (marking the site of the crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Christ); and the Western ("Wailing") Wall, once part of Solomon's Temple. Outside the walls of the old city is the beautiful Franciscan church, the Church of All Nations, on the slope of the Mount of Olives; the church is built around the rock in the Garden of Gethsemane.

 

Day 9   | Cruise: Haifa, Israel

7 am - 10 pm. Haifa is Hebrew for "beautiful coast," and this port lives up to its name. Much of the city lies on the slopes of Mount Carmel as it plunges to the sea. A day can be well spent in Haifa, home to the Bahai Temple, Elijah's cave, the Druze villages and the artists' colonies at Ein Hod and Safad. More popular, though, are the excursions to Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee.

 

Day 10 | Cruise: Limassol, Cyprus

10 am - 5 pm. Limassol is a resort town in the Greek southern half of the island. The most popular excursions visit the sites of the Curium amphitheater and the sanctuary of Apollo, the Crusader castle at Kolossi and the House of Dionysus at Paphos.  

 

Day 11 | Cruise: Rhodes, Greece

9 am - 5 pm. This island is celebrated for its natural beauty and delightful climate. Its most outstanding site is the Acropolis of Lindos; take a donkey trek to the site and pass charming whitewashed cottages on the way. The island's capital city is ringed with more than two miles of 15th-century walls. Most excursions include the medieval castle and Turkish market.

 

Day 12 | Cruise: Ephesus & Kusadasi, Turkey

7 am - 5 pm. Ephesus was the capital of Asia Minor during the time of the Roman Empire, and now it is one of the world's most impressive and best-restored archaeological sites. Walk the marble-paved streets and see the spectacular ruins of the Temple of Hadrian, the Library of Celsus, the house where the Virgin Mary spent her last days and the amphitheater where St. Paul once preached. Kusadasi is a Turkish resort known for its extensive marina and miles of beaches, but it is famed for the ancient treasures just minutes away: Miletus and its Greco-Roman theater and Temple of Athena, Didyma and its Temple of Apollo, and the most glorious of all, the marble city of Ephesus.  

 

Day 13 | Cruise: Athens & Piraeus, Greece

7 am - 5 pm. Piraeus is the port to Athens -- the birthplace of Western civilization. The first stop on most excursions is the Parthenon on the hill of the Acropolis. The Acropolis also is the site of the Propylaea, the Temple of the Wingless Victory, the Erechtheion and the Acropolis Museum. A drive down Syngrou Avenue offers an impressive view of the Arch of Hadrian and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. The National Archeological Museum houses a rich collection of antiquities.

Day 15 | Cruise: Naples & Capri, Italy

7 am - 6 pm. Naples is one of the world's greatest cultural centers, filled with extraordinary works of art and architecture in the classical Greek and Roman styles. Several interesting tours are available of the city itself and the fascinating places that lie just outside of Naples. While you're in the area, you'll want to visit Pompeii, one of the most famous excavation sites in the world. Take a short boat trip to the entrancing Isle of Capri, and explore Capri Town. Wander its quaint streets and explore its shops and cafés. Or, take a ride up the Amalfi Coast. With its ocean views and beautiful vistas, it's one of the most breathtaking stretches of road in the world. Walk around and spend an afternoon getting to know the picturesque city of Naples.

About Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas: The 90,000 ton ship was built in 2004 and completely refurbished in 2016.  The Jewel of the Seas offers its guests spectacular views, from the panoramic elevators that face the open sea to the walls of windows in the top-deck Viking Crown Lounge -- in fact, close to half of the ship’s surface is made of glass! When it’s time for dinner, passengers can choose to dine on continental cuisine in the main dining room, elegant Italian fare at Portofino or a steak dinner at Chops Grille. For a more casual dining experience, visit the Windjammer Café or take advantage of the complimentary 24-hour room service.
